All our cloth is sourced with care in the United Kingdom. Our wools and linens are woven on Lewis, in Roxburghshire, Yorkshire, Somerset, Northern Ireland and beyond.

For lighter alternatives we also offer two different weights of Irish Linen, as well as some Silk Matka, the latter being a useful alternative to linen. While it this latter fabric has ben carefully sourced from an erstwhile British producer, it is sourced and cut here, but sadly no longer woven here.

Fox Brothers

Established in 1772, Fox Brothers & Co have proudly been producing cloth in England since the 18th century. Officially credited as the original creators of flannel, they have a way with patterns like no others – perhaps thanks to their pattern archive which dates back to the company's foundation. Based in a delightful mill in Wellington, Fox supply all the best tailors and finest fashion houses – and us!

For some, looks alone will justify the price of a Fox Waistcoat, for others it will be the touch of the cloth that swings it ... and softens the blow.

AW Hainsworth

Abimelech William Hainsworth started manufacturing woollen cloth in Yorkshire in 1783. Since then, AW Hainsworth has been busy clothing royalty, dressing palaces, creating ceremonial military cloths; even the Woolsack is covered in Hainsworth cloth. All this from their base in Pudsey.

Divine doeskins and melt-in-your hands Meltons come in subdued and jewel like colours – warm, wearable, eye-catching and elegant.

Harris Tweed

Harris Tweed needs to no introduction, but in case you haven't come across them, our suppliers are Carloway Mill. Based on Lewis (of course), they are known not only for their magnificent tweeds, but also for being the oldest Harris Tweed mill in the world. Set up as a nonprofit company set up to promote and maintain the tradition of Harris Tweed weaving in the island tradition, they do so with gusto.

Small production runs in superb colours mixed with creativity into an array of patterns. If you didn't think Harris Tweed could surprise you, Carloway will prove you wrong. We are starting with just one of their tweeds – more will come in due course!

Lovat Mill

Lovat Mill is situated on the banks of the river Teviot, in Hawick just metres away from the origins of Tweed itself. Supplier to over 180 private estates and military regiments in the UK.

With a huge array of wonderfully coloured tweeds to dip into, we have started with five different options; we will doubtless add more in due course, so deep is their tempting array.

British Made Tweeds

In addition to the wonderful line up we have from Fox, Carloway and Lovat, we have some other marvels. Some chosen for their relative lightness, others because they add a more urban twist. A third set we have purloined from EdNerat. Some of these were acquired as deadstock, so you can conceive them as having their third life on Weskit – their first use of course, but their third opportunity to be cut, made up, worn and loved.

Lambswool & Lambswool Cashmere Mixes

Generally lighter than our merino flannels, but just as soft, we have some medium and lighter weight lambswool and lambswool and cashmere mixes. An ideal evening weight (if your house isn't too draughty) or even office weight (if you have one).

We are starting with a mix of herringbone patterns and colours, as well as the odd dogstooth – all of which will make the most wonderful of waistcoats. As with all our other wool outers, these are made in Britain.

Irish Linen

We source all our linen from Baird McNutt whose mill lies at the edge of the ancient Antrim twin villages of Kells and Connor in Northern Ireland. Designed, dyed and finished in Ireland, but sadly no longer woven there.

Silk Matka

Silk Matka, if you haven't crossed it before, is a linen-like silk – more structured and textured than you would expect from a silk, and lot more creaseproof than you would expect from a linen.

We offer this wonderful (but 100% silk) hybrid cloth in a colourful array; if there's something else you are after, please get in touch – chances are we can source it. Our matka is cut and supplied from the UK, but sadly not woven here.

To complement our wonderful range of finely made outers, we offer a growing number of viscose linings and for those who like a bit more structure, a pure cotton ticking.

Additionally, for those that like things really soft, we have acces to the full range of EdNerat silk linings which can best be viewed on EdNerat's own site, here. If you would prefer a silk, please either select it in the lining menu option, or drop us a note in the check out box. There is an additional charge of £30.00 for silk linings.
